The Berlin-Brandenburg research platform BB3R with the integrated graduate program "Innovations in the 3R Research – Genetic Engineering, Tissue Engineering and Bioinformatics" aims to prepare doctoral students for a subsequent career in the field of life science or science administration.

Focus

Intensive systematic research provides progress in 3R (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement of animal testing) alternatives and excellent young scientists will be trained and highly qualified in alternative methods to animal experiments. The qualification is based on the respective PhD student’s own research project and is complemented by a comprehensive, well-structured training program in the wide field of 3R.

BB3R is a member of Dahlem Research School Biomedical Sciences.

Our program offers:

  • Mentoring Team (three mentors, two of which are focused on the scientific work and one is supporting the professional development)
  • Specialist Spring Schools (theoretical background and practical training) focusing on  Alternatives to Animal Testing, Laboratory Animal Sciences and ”Ethics and Law“
  • Training in related methods in the lab of research partners
  • Participation in the curricula of other Dahlem Research School programs (in Biomedical Science line) and in the Potsdam Graduate School covering the fields of academic performance, managerial skills, information technology/languages and career development.
