Helmholtz Einstein International Berlin Research School in Data Science (HEIBRiDS)
In 2018, the Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF) and the Helmholtz Association established a joint graduate program in Data Science: the Helmholtz Einstein International Berlin Research School in Data Science (HEIBRiDS) – an interdisciplinary program combining Data Science and other scientific disciplines! The goal is to educate a generation of data scientists, who understand the demands and challenges of disciplines in which Data Science is a necessity.
Focus
HEIBRiDS brings together six Helmholtz centers and four partners from ECDF, all working at the intersection of databases and data mining, machine learning, network science, statistics and statistical physics, information retrieval, applied mathematics, and analyses of complex networks. The interdisciplinary nature of the program requires two supervisors: one from a Helmholtz center and one from an ECDF partner.
Collaborating Helmholtz centers include AWI, DESY, DLR, GFZ, HZB, and MDC. ECDF partners in the program are Freie Universität Berlin (FU), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU), Technische Universität Berlin (TU), and Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
