Cinepoetics - Center for Advanced Film Studies is a research group based at Freie Universität Berlin in cooperation with Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF and is funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG).

The structures doctoral program Cinepoetics is a member of the Dahlem Research School and integrates graduate students into the research program and activities of the Cinepoetics Center

Focus

Cinepoetics aims at developing a theory of the poeisis of film-viewing based on the topos of cinematic thinking. This theory provides the basis for a methodological approach to the analysis of cinematic discourse as well as for the reconstruction of the history of audiovisual movment-images as a history of unceasingly new poetologies of thinking in cinematic images.
